I think i may have found a winner here. I will stick with the Aussie Rogowska who i think should have a great chance to advance to the next round.
She have played the US Open since 2009 (yet only born 1991), with 3 of the occasions reaching the first round. And she was playing some great tennis in 2009 when she took Safina to a decider here. She was looking to have a bright future but have not been able to find that play again?
She is now ranked 107 in the world and looking to reach the 1 round for her 3 consecutive year, as she is seeded number 6 in the qualification stage.. Rogowska is mostly on the ITF tour but have hard court as a favorite surface (with 192-114 winning record all time) as she has a 35-17 winning record over the 12 last months, and with 7-3 wins in her last 10 matches on hard. She actually have 5-5 wins of her last 10 WTA tour matches on hard court. Rogowska also have a good record of beating players with lower ranks on hard court with 8-2 wins in the last 10 matches.
If we look at Siegemund we see a different approach to the surface.. She is ranked at 160 in the world (best ranking ever), and she is also playing mostly on the ITF tour. But she is playing most of her matches on clay, as her best surface. She have played only 1 match on hard this year, yesterday, when she beat Garcia in a deciding TB (loosing second set 0-6). Siegemund have only made it to the qualifications here on three occasions. She have a 3-7 record on hard court in her last 10 matches, and overall she have a 35-43 all time record on hard courts. She have a recent 1-9 loosing record when facing a higher ranked player on hard courts..
With that sad, i think Rogowska should be the better prepared player, she have been playing 4 straight ITF tournaments in the US before the Open, with a tournament win in Sacramento beating better players than Siegemund. She have been playing against some top 100 players on hard court, winning 3 matches against. Now facing Siegemund who have only been playing about 10 matches on the surface for 3 years.. And in 2012 almost decided to handle her racket in, going to finish her studying at the university.
Rogowska to advance for me.
